Life is a journey so why not be on a journey that you enjoy!?

If you're feeling stuck with your current path and are searching for a new direction...you’re not alone. Your past does not have to dictate the terms of your present or your future. I believe in our innate ability to change and grow as individuals and I'm here to support you in transforming your relationship with yourself, others, and your environment.

Welcome!

I’m Amy. I started Sunshine Counseling to help individuals reconnect with the inner vibrancy, joy and radiant energy that resides within each of us. Through my strengths-based approach, I help provide a sense of connection and safety to clients as they address difficult experiences and feelings, move through pain and discomfort, and begin to see more sunshine in themselves and in their lives.

  • I began my career in mental health back in 2008. While in college, I found myself completely drawn to my psychology classes and earned a degree in Human Development with a minor in Psychology. For nearly a decade, I worked in a residential program supporting children and adults with trauma, mental illness and substance use.

As I fell more in love with the field and with the experience of growth and change, I decided to return to graduate school and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2016. After graduating, I continued to expand my skillsets as a Certified Addictions Specialist and a certified EMDR Therapist. Since then, I have worked with a wide range of clients from many different walks of life who are seeking to improve their sense of self and their quality of life.

  • I am lucky to be a native of Colorado and have been spoiled with mountain adventures and 300 days of sunshine a year. I have always held a love for Colorado and could never see myself living anywhere else! When not practicing therapy or geeking out with friends and colleagues about the magic of psychology and the human mind, I enjoy being in nature, getting immersed in a book or show, playing with my twin girls, and getting lost in my kitchen with cooking and baking.

Lightness

Therapy can be hard work, but that's not the whole story! I love to integrate playfulness and humor to balance out the heavy stuff with a bit of lightness. I believe it's possible to confront the areas where we feel stuck, move towards our goals, and hold ourselves accountable—all while leaving room for levity and laughter.

Harmony

Nestled within each of us is an inner voice that intuitively knows what needs to happen. For most of us, as we get older, we lose this connection. Growth happens when we allow our childlike side to come out. Rebuilding this relationship with ourselves is at the center of harmonizing our inner world with our outer one.

Authenticity

When we transcend our ideas about how we're supposed to be, we find the beauty in being who we really are. I can be quirky, even awkward. Sometimes I cuss! When I make mistakes, I'm comfortable admitting them. By giving myself permission to be true to who I am, I create a space where you can be true to who you are.
